Marvel
Gentry Davis, 2003 Post-Corbett Award Finalist, is President of the
Board of Directors for ballet tech cincinnati and Producing
Artistic Director for the Season Series and Gala of International
Dance Stars. She has been involved with ballet
tech cincinnati since the very beginning as an original board
member. Since her tenure as President of the Board, she has led ballet
tech cincinnati to new levels of revenue attainment, community
involvement and impact, and artistic excellence. In 2008 she was recognized as a “Leading Woman” in Arts/Entertainment by Leading Women and received a Performing Arts Award for her contributions to the Greater Cincinnati Community in Arts and Culture by the Cincinnati Chapter of The Links, Incorporated and won the Merlin G. Pope Diversity Leadership Award for her leadership in Diversity in the Arts. In 2009 she was named an Unsung Heroine by Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. ballet tech cincinnati won the 2008 Scripps-Corbett Award in Arts Innovation and was named a ONE Award Finalist, in large measure due to its intense focus on excellence, diversity and innovation under her leadership.
Marvel has a life
long love of dance. She has been performing since she was four, and
has studied many dance idioms, including ballet, jazz, modern, tap,
African, Balinese, belly dancing, Praise dancing, and her new dance
interest, ballroom dancing. Her love of dance and passion for making
dance accessible to everyone guides her artistic vision. She has produced
six highly successful seasons at the Aronoff Center, including the internationally
acclaimed Gala of International
Dance Stars and several audience pleasing original productions such asThe Conductors MultiCultural Dance Fest, Shall We Dance?, Happily Ever After, Made in America, The Jazzy Sleeping Beauty, Rikki Tikki Tavi, East vs West Side Story, Myth and The Emerald City.
A graduate of Northwestern
University, Marvel is an expert in high tech solution sales and management,
and has been successful in various roles at a number of well respected
companies in Chicago and Cincinnati. A member of Leadership Cincinnati Class XXXII, Cincinnati Arts Association Building Diverse Audiences Committee, Fine Arts Fund BVA Committee, Board of Trustees for OhioDance, Board of Trustees for Montgomery Corridor Arts Collaborative and a National Arts Marketing Project Certified Arts Marketer, she is listed in Who’s Who in Dance, Who’s Who of Business and Professional Women, Who’s Who in Black Cincinnati and Who’s Who International.
