Talking Eggs Story Line
Act I
Scene 1

Fiddler Banjo Rabbit enters stage left and is dancing, to the song.

Blanche’s miserable life changes one day when her kindness to an old witch-woman propels her into a miraculous world where cows have two heads and bray like mules. And rabbits in fancy dress dance the dance.  Strangest of all are the mystical talking eggs, which dramatically prove that beauty may hide great ugliness while the plainest of things may conceal treasures within.”

Backstage Chaperone:need to arrive 10 minutes prior to CALL TIME. (6 PM for Thursday Dress & FRI Evening, evening, , 12:30 for the SAT matinee & 6PM for SAT evening). (It is important that these volunteers arrive on time, as no dancer under 12 years old will be able to get to their dressing room with out them!) These volunteers will meet at the Backstage door with the Volunteer Coordinator. They will wait at the Backstage Door to collect and escort those dancers who are in their assigned dressing room. Once in the dressing room, these moms will be available to help with make-up, costume, and hair needs, as well as for general supervision, potty reminders, etc…  Dancers will come with hair and make-up done, BC’s will only help if touch-ups, etc.. are needed. BC’s should supervise dancers to maintain a clean dressing room (this doesn’t mean the volunteer does it—this means reminding dancers to clean up messes, put trash in the trash receptacle, !!!!properly hang up their costume!!!!, etc..)  At the end of the show, the BC’s should have dancers make sure all of their belongings are put away, costumes are hung up, and the dressing room is tidy, at that time  they will escort dancers to the Backstage Door Hallway where they will work with the runners to manage the pickup. 1 mom will supervise their group in the hallway, the other will stay in the lobby to listen for names of dancers whose parents have arrived for pick-up. There will be 2 BC per show.  ***on Saturday Evening, The BC will escort dancers to the J-K Lobby for the reception*** BC must volunteer during rehearsals at btc to gain the necessary experience for backstage at the theater

Backstage Runner Needs to arrive 10 minutes prior to  Call Time.(6 PM for Thursday Dress & FRI Evening, evening, , 12:30 for the SAT matinee & 6PM for SAT evening).
Backstage Runners will go up to the backstage area to review the “CALL SHEET” which they will use to “run” the dancers from dressing rooms to the backstage area. The CALL SHEET details dancers needed for scenes, which dressing room to pick up at, and time frame for pick-up as well as any other special notes. ***on Saturday Evening, DRM’s and Backstage Runners will escort dancers to the J-K Lobby for the reception*** There will be 2  Backstage Runner per show

Front Of  House:These volunteers need to arrive at the Jarson-Kaplan Lobby at 7 PM for evening shows, and 1 PM for the matinee. FOH volunteers will set-up the Lobby Table with our display board, information that can be disbursed to audience members, collect completed survey forms, and pass out book-giveaway books. FOH Volunteers will represent BTC and BTO for the hour before the show starts, during intermission, and until the lobby is mostly cleared out after the show. FOH Volunteers will pack up display board and handouts in the FOH box provided and store under the table at the end of each show.  There will be 2 FOH Volunteers per show.

Videographer:The Videographer will need to arrive by 7:30 for the evening shows and by 1:30 for the matinee.  The Videographer will use a digital hi-8 camera provided and video the entire performance from Curtain Speech to Final Bows.  The videographer will be set-up in the balcony. There will be 1 Videographer per show. (Videographers do not have to pay for their ticket for the show they are volunteering at)

Load-In:  Load-In Volunteers will meet after Wednesday Dress rehearsal at btc on. Volunteers will load props, set pieces, and costumes from btc to Truck.  We need 2-4 Load-In Volunteers. (this would be a great job for dads who want to help)

Load-Out:  Load-Out Volunteers will meet backstage before the Saturday Night Show’s Cast Reception. Volunteers will fetch costumes from each dressing room, double check dressing rooms for anything left behind, and load the truck with props, set pieces, and costumes.  We need 4-6 Load-Out Volunteers for the Saturday Night Show Only. (this would be a great job for dads who want to help)

Rehearsal Assistant: The Rehearsal Assistant helps to coordinate all the various choreographers and rehearsals, including working with the Back Stage Volunteers to make sure that the cast is in the correct rehearsal space at the proper time and working with choreographers and the Production Manager.  The Rehearsal Assistant will have a prominent role working with the Production Manager at the theater for dress rehearsal and the performances.

Dance Captain: Dance Captains are dancers who are in the show, but not in the piece that they work on with the choreographer.  Dance Captains should be somewhat experienced in the company, and be able to assist the choreographer by teaching the choreography, helping dancers who need a little extra help, keep track of time so that the choreographer starts and ends his/her rehearsal on time.

Costumes: We need people to help sew and prepare costumes for the show. This would be work you can do at your own time at home, or at the studio. We need 6-8 people to help throughout production.

Sets: Those who volunteer to help with sets/props would be in charge of making sure we have all the props and sets we need. Possibly building new props and sets also making the sure the props and sets that we have are the quality that they need to be. This work would be done at btc during rehearsals. We need 8-10 people to help throughout production.

Poster Brigade: Poster Brigade volunteers will distribute posters throughout Greater Cincinnati posting them in various businesses, libraries, and community centers. Posters need to be distributed no later than a month before opening night. This is done on your own time with your own transportation. We will need 6-8 volunteers for this.
